I have been the Medical Director at HAART Oakland since 2009.My medical training began in 1978 at the State University School of Medicine in Buffalo. I completed my internship at Baylor Affiliated Hospitals in Houston. My specialty residency training was in Emergency Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta. I am currently Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and have practiced Emergency Medicine for 28 years. From my years of medical practice, I have learned that substance use disorders are complex and require a comprehensive approach. I believe that all those suffering from substance use disorders should be treated with care, dignity and respect. These are also guiding principles of HAART and that is why I am proud to participate in the excellent care provided at HAART Oakland.
I have been a registered nurse for 30+ years and have worked at HAART over 20 years. I provide CE trainings for RN’s and LVN’s as a BRN (Board of Registered Nursing) provider for the State of California. I am also currently affiliated with BHC Fremont as an intake specialist providing evaluations and assessments to individuals with behavioral health issues. It has been my pleasure to be a part of HAART, helping individuals and families struggling with addiction.
I have been a registered nurse and a member of the dispensing staff at HAART since 1994. I divide my professional time between HAART Oakland, HAART Hayward and Children’s Hospital in Oakland. I am proud to be part of a great group of competent, professional staff working at HAART.
I have been working at HAART Oakland since 2009 and I’ve been in the medication-assisted treatment field for almost fifteen years. I am also a Certified Medical Assistant. I love the work that I do and working with the people that I work with every day; it’s nice when you love what you do.
I am a social work professional with 25+ years’ experience providing counseling and life management consultation to Alameda County residents with substance use disorder and mental health issues. I have a BA in Psychology and I am CADC II Certified.
I am a native of Oakland California. I have served in the East Bay area as an individual/group counselor for 18 years. My experience is in providing multi-level care in substance use disorder/chemical dependency, Narcotic Replacement Therapy, relapse prevention, pregnancy, parenting, and women’s issues and adult education. I earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Holy Names University.

We would like to welcome Marie Archuleta to our staff. She comes to HAART Oakland with a variety of experience working from a harm reduction framework. She is committed to offering compassionate care and counseling that values each individual client experience, and allows each person to enter as they are.
I am a licensed psychotherapist who has been working in the harm reduction field since 2000 and HAART since 2004. I believe that recovery starts wherever the client is and that any positive change toward health and well-being is empowering and therefore allows for access to a greater number of options. My goal is to support clients in obtaining an improved quality of life.
It is an honor to work at H.A.A.R.T and I look forward to helping people who are helping themselves. I am a cognitive behavioral therapist who believes that everyone can change. With collaboration among patients, nurses, doctors, administration and therapists, we can help people reach their goals.
I graduated in Accounting from The National University of Nicaragua in 1977. I started to work for HAART on January 1, 1986, since then I have been working in Administration and Bookkeeping.
Dr. Michael Martinez is a staff physician at HAART Oakland and the Medical Director for HAART Hayward.
As a native of the East Bay Area, I feel it is important to empower and enrich the members of my community. I believe that anyone is capable of making positive changes in their life; with counseling and understanding addiction/recovery, the possibilities are endless. I have experience in the field of mental health and received my B.A. in sociology from San Francisco State University.
